Reading

  • Read for 40 minutes or more – Don’t forget to use your Reading Log!
    • You must be making jots on post-its to stick into your book or keep in your notebook (if you’re reading on myon or Epic)
    • Always be working on your Reading Goals by jotting down ideas, questions, and observations that connect to your Goal
    • The book you read must be Non-Fiction!
  • Reading Notebook – Create a Boxes and Bullets organizer to identify the Main Idea in your reading. Remember that the Box is for the Main Idea and the Bullets are the supporting reasons
  • Answer the Read Aloud question:
    • Sistine argues that freeing the tiger is the right thing to do. Willi Mae agrees, but refuses to free him. She tells Sistine that “Right don’t always count.”
    • What do you think this means?
    • Describe a situation in your life where right didn’t count

Writing

  • Choose an Opinion to use for your essay
    • Make sure the Opinion is specific and interesting…it has to be an Opinion that another person could argue against!
      • For example:
        • We should have school during the summer
        • 4th grade students should not be allowed to read Goosebumps
        • Batman would beat Superman in a fight
        • Math is the most important subject in school
        • Everyone should learn to swim
  • List 3 Reasons that support your Opinion

  • 3.5  HW (no Write-It)
    • If you are having a difficult time with the homework, please complete the first two pages of the lesson…use all your resources to help you understand!
  • Times Tables: 11 and 12, thrice
  • Finish Mid-Chapter Checkpoint
